2009 Sophomore Season

Appeared in 12 meets on the season, competing in every event in 10 of those meets…recorded a season-high combined total of 39.375 to win the all-around against Western Michigan (3/15), the eighth-best total in school history…also against the Broncos, received season high scores on bars (9.875) and beam (9.875) to finish first and second, respectively, in those events…the 9.875 mark on bars was the 10th-best in Kent State history…won her first all-around title with a combined total of 39.000 at Bowling Green (2/7) and won her second a week later against Central Michigan and Maryland (2/15) with a total of 39.225…received a season-high score of 9.875 on vault against CMU and MD…finished with a 39.375 in the all-around against Western Michigan (3/15), the eighth best combined event score in school history…finished third in the Mid-American Conference with a regional qualifying score of 38.900 in the all-around, fifth in the MAC on vault (9.825) and bars (9.780) and seventh on beam (9.735)…had the 12th-highest RQS in the all-around in the Central Region.

2008 Freshman Season

A solid performer on vault as a freshman for the Golden Flashes...she competed in all 11 meets on vault, three meets on floor and two meet on bars...after a 9.525 in her first vault of the season, she earned a score of 9.700 or better in the final 10 meets...set a career-high on vault with a score of 9.800 three times this season, against George Washington (2/8), at the Sweetheart Invitational (2/16) and against Eastern Michigan (3/21)...finished the season ranked10th in the conference on vault with an RQS of 9.765...set a career-high 9.775 on floor against Bowling Green (2/29)...received a season-high 9.675 on bars at Western Michigan (3/16).

Prior to Kent State

Was a member of the Brecksville-Broadview Heights gymnastics team, who won state championships 2004-07...named to the All-State and All-District teams her freshman and sophomore seasons...member of Gymnastics World Ohio...in 2007 was a level 10 beam state champion...was a level 10 bars state champion...was a 2005 high school state champion on the floor exercises.

Personal

Born Dec. 19, 1988...daughter of Malek Abou-Mitri...has two sisters and a brother...volunteered for Riversweep, which helped to clean up the Cuyahoga River...majoring in justice studies.
