Dane Richardson began his role as Broadcast Coordinator at Kent State in August of 2025. Also known as the voice of the Golden Flashes, Dane handles radio play-by-play duties for Kent State football and men's basketball on Fox Sports 1350, as well as ESPN+ broadcasts for Kent State women's basketball, volleyball, and occasional olympic sports.
You can also see Dane as the host of FlashTalk, Kent State's weekly show on FanDuel Sports Cleveland interviewing coaches, athletes, and sporting his own segment, "Dane Does". Dane is currently the youngest FBS football and men's basketball voice in the country, and is known for his energy, knowledge, and enthusiasm he brings weekly to Golden Flashes fans.
Dane arrived Kent State in August of 2023 as the broadcast graduate assistant. For the past two seasons, Dane was the radio play-by-play voice of Kent State women's basketball, called men's basketball on ESPN+ and home contests for volleyball, soccer, field hockey, lacrosse, and baseball, while radio sideline reporting for football. Dane was the voice behind the 2023-2024 Kent State women's basketball NCAA tournament team, the program's first MAC championship in 22 seasons.
Dane graduated with a Masters of Arts in Sport Administration from Kent State in May of 2025. Dane received his undergraduate degree from Ithaca College, graduating Summa Cum Laude in May of 2023 with a bachelor’s in television and digital media production with minors in journalism and sport studies. In the fall of 2022, Dane was one of the main play-by-play voices of Ithaca College football on 91.7 FM WICB and also called a number of other athletic events during his four years in upstate New York.
In February of 2023, Dane and three others covered Super Bowl LVII on Radio Row in Phoenix, Arizona for 91.7 FM WICB producing a one hour daily show called ‘Radio Row Review’ as well as providing live updates throughout the day ahead of the big game. Dane has also worked with CBS Sports at the 2022 men’s basketball Final Four in New Orleans, Louisiana.
A native of Oswego, New York, Dane is a First Lieutenant in the New York Army National Guard. Richardson's two favorite pro sports teams are the New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Steelers.
