Dane Richardson joined the Kent State Athletic Communications staff as broadcast graduate assistant in August 2023. His responsibilities include broadcasting all women’s basketball games (radio) and home contests for soccer, volleyball, field hockey, lacrosse, baseball, softball, and occasionally men’s basketball (television), as well as sideline reporting for football.
Dane graduated Summa Cum Laude in May of 2023 from Ithaca College with a bachelor’s in television and digital media production with minors in journalism and sport studies. In the fall of 2022, Dane was one of the main play-by-play voices of Ithaca College football on 91.7 FM WICB and also called a number of other athletic events during his four years in upstate New York.
In February of 2023, Dane and three others covered Super Bowl LVII on Radio Row in Phoenix, Arizona for 92 WICB producing a one hour daily show called ‘Radio Row Review’ as well as providing live updates throughout the day ahead of the big game. Dane has also worked with CBS Sports at the 2022 men’s basketball Final Four in New Orleans, Louisiana.
A native of Oswego, New York, Dane is a Second Lieutenant in the New York Army National Guard. Richardson is pursuing his masters’ degree in sport administration at Kent State University in the Fall 2023.
