Derek Jackson set the tone on both ends of the floor in Kent State’s 58-46 road victory over Kennesaw State on Saturday. Making his first start at point guard in a Golden Flashes uniform, Jackson handed out a career-high 11 assists to go with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 2 steals. Jackson held Kennesaw State leading scorer Yonel Brown without a field goal, as he committed 4 turnovers and scored 3 points on 0-for-8 shooting from the floor. As a result of taking away the Owls’ top offensive weapon, the Flashes were able to hold them to just 32.6 percent shooting and just 5 field goals after halftime. Kennesaw State’s 46 points are the lowest total Kent State has allowed vs. a Division I opponent since holding Eastern Michigan to 46 on January 27, 2009.
