Sophomore cornerback Demetrius Monday forced three turnovers, including a fumble that he forced, recovered and returned 80 yards for Kent State's only touchdown in a 10-7 loss to Minnesota inside TCF Bank Stadium. For his performance, he was named Mid-American Conference East Division Defensive Player of the Week.
Monday intercepted two passes in the first half, leaping up in 1-on-1 coverage on both plays. He also made four tackles.
College Sports Madness tabbed Monday National Defensive player of the Week.
Monday is currently tied for the nation's lead in interceptions with three and has picked off four passes in his last four games.
