Kent State Breaks Three Indoor Track And Field School Records At Notre Dame

Sophomore Jackie Rodgers (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) broke her own school record in the pole vault for the third time this season placing second with a leap of 13-4.50. Rodgers jump improves her previous NCAA provisional height (13-1) and ranks her ninth in the NCAA. Rodgers is all but assured a trip to the NCAA 2004 Indoor Championships March 12-13 in Fayetteville, Ark with sophomore Mike Inge (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria), who automatically qualified in the 800 meters.
The womens distance medley relay team of freshman Stephanie Hunt (Alliance, Ohio/St. Thomas Aquinas), senior Kelly Green (Newbury, Ohio/Burton Berkshire) and juniors Jennifer Fascione (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) and Jeanna Fascione (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) placed fifth in 11:23.24, bettering their provisional NCAA time and shattering the previous school record, set earlier this season. The quartet currently ranks 19th in the NCAA.
The mens distance medley relay team of Inge, senior Jared Vogler (Williamsville, N.Y./Sweet Home), freshman Ray Armstrong (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) and senior Peter Weisz (Tatabanya, Hungray/Veszprem) finished seventh and provisionally qualified for the 2004 NCAA Indoor Championships with a school-record time of 9:38.71. The dmr team currently ranks 16th in the nation.
Jeanna Fascione led a trio of Kent State runners in the 800 meters placing seventh in a NCAA provisional qualifying time of 2:08.35, besting the 2:09.00 standard. Fasciones time ranks her 22nd in the NCAA and moves her up to fourth on the all-time KSU indoor list. Green was 13th in 2:10.30 and Jennifer Fascione ran a personal-best 2:10.83, the sixth-fastest in school history, to take 16th.
Junior Colleen Ramharak (Toronto, Ontario/Oakwood C.I.) placed second in the triple jump (42-1.50) with her second-provisional leap of the season.
