The Doug Raymond Invitational honors former Kent State track and field coach Doug Raymond, who led the Golden Flashes for 18 seasons (1960-1978). With Raymond at the helm, Kent State captured the program's first MAC Championship in the 1972-73 season, followed by another championship in the 1974-75 season. For his efforts, Raymond was inducted into the Kent State Athletics Varsity "K" Hall of Fame in 1998 and then was inducted into the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame in 2003.Â
Kent State will host a total of four schools at this year's Doug Raymond Invitational, which will be scored in a double dual format. The women's team will face-off against the likes of Bowling Green, Duquesne, Ohio and Youngstown State, while the men's team will face-off against Youngstown State.Â
