Yip Wins in Playoff, Men's Golf Charges to Second Place Finish at Kepler Intercollegiate

The tournament was played at the OSU Scarlet Course, a par-72, 7,141-yard layout.
The medalist title is the first of Yips career, bettering his previous top career finish of second place at last years Bid Red Classic. Yip shot 73 today, to go along with a career-low tying 67 in the first round and a 74 in round two yesterday. He finished at two-under 214.
Junior Peter Laws (Mississauga, Ontario/Our Lady of Mount Carmel) moved up one slot today, posting his third straight round of even-par 72, finishing tied for fourth at 216. Laws was Kent States low scorer in each of the final two rounds. The Flashes also got a solid round from freshman Marc Bourgeois (Dieppe, New Brunswick/Mathieu-Martin), who carded 83-74-73=203 (+14) and moved up to tie for 46th from 73rd place.
KSUs five were rounded out by senior Joe Hurtuk (Bedford, Ohio/St. Peter Chanel), who tied for 87th following rounds of 80-76-84=240 (+24) and senior Sean Howell (Erie, Pa./McDowell), competing in his first tournament of the year, shooting 81-80-75=236 (+20), tying for 74th.
