Yip won individual medalist honors at the Robert Kepler Intercollegiate held at Ohio State last weekend. He carded rounds of 67-74-73 to finish regulation tied with Toledos Brad Heaven at two-under 214. They both made par on No. 10, the first playoff hole, before Yip parred the ninth, while Heaven bogeyed, to secure the win for Yip, helping lead KSU to a second-place finish in the tournament.
It was the first individual tournament title of Yips career, bettering his previous-best finish of second place at last years Big Red Classic. His first-round 67 also tied his career-best low round.
Wood turned in her best performance of the 2003-04 season by tying for fourth at the Lady Boilermaker Invitational at Purdue. She posted rounds of 74-77-78 for a total of 229. Her efforts helped Kent State to a tie for eighth place in the tournament. Woods previous-best finish this year was a tie for eighth at the Shootout at the Legends in the fall.
The Kent State women are next in action when they compete in the 2004 MAC Championships at Walden Ponds Golf Club in Hamilton, Ohio, April 23-25. The Golden Flashes men play in the FirstEnergy Collegiate at Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio, April 24-25.
