Mens 4x100 Relay Team Highlights Day One Of The Regional Championships

KENT, Ohio - The Kent State mens 4x100-meter relay team qualified for tomorrows finals to lead the Golden Flashes on day one of the NCAA Mid-East Regional Championships in Baton Rouge, La. May 28.
The 4x100-team of freshman Marc Johnson (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown), senior Otis Jordan (Detroit, Mich./Bishop Gallagher), junior Marc Mitchell (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and junior Adrian Ghioroaie (Bucharest, Romania/UTEP) got things started for the Golden Flashes finishing seventh in the preliminaries with a season-best time of 40.29 to qualify for tomorrows final. The foursome took third in their heat and ran the third-fastest time in school history.
Mitchell also competing in the long jump finished 12th with a jump of 24-1.75.
Sophomore Mike Inge (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) took 13th in the 800 meters with a time of 1:49.97 and freshman Ray Armstrong (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) finished 29th. Despite not reaching the final, Inge is all but a lock to gain an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships as he is ranked 12th in the country.
Rounding the competitors for the Golden Flashes, senior Jared Vogler (Williamsville, N.Y./Sweet Home) was 20th in the 400-meter hurdles (54.15).
The Golden Flashes will wrap up the Mid-East Regional Championships tomorrow starting at noon.
