Men's Track Competes At Akron And Michigan

KENT, Ohio - The KSU track and field teams finished off the pre-Mid-American Conference (MAC) Championship portion of their schedule today at the Campbell/Wright Open in Akron, Ohio and the Len Paddock Invitational in Ann Arbor, Mich.
At the Campbell/Wright Open, junior Adrian Ghiorale (Bucharest, Romania/UTEP) stole the show winning the triple jump with a regional-qualifying leap of 50-6.75. His leap ranks him 11th in the Mid-East region and first in the MAC.
On the track, senior Otis Jordan (Detroit, Mich./Bishop Gallagher) won the 100 meters in a personal-best 10.51 while freshman Marc Johnson (Middletown, Ohio/Middletown) was third in 10.57.
Junior Marc Mitchell (Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) placed third in the 200 meters (21.68) and classmate Keith Roberts (Bellefontaine, Ohio/Bellefontaine) took second in the 100-meter hurdles (14.31) to round out the top performers on the track.
In the field, senior Chris Stanwyck (Brunswick, Ohio/Brunswick) won the pole vault with a leap of 15-11 and sophomore Phil Rickaby (N.S.W., Australia/Winamalee) placed third in the long jump (23-0.50).
At the Len Paddock Invitational, freshmen Ray Armstrong (Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) and Ryan Schroeder (Pemberville, Ohio/Eastwood) finished second (1:53.16) and third (1:54.12) in the 800 meters, respectively.
Also at the Len Paddock Invite, junior Jennifer Fascione (North Royalton, Ohio/North Royalton) won the 800 meters in a personal-best 2:10.35, setting the sixth-fastest mark in school history.
At the Campbell/Wright, sophomore Jackie Rodgers (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) placed second in the pole vault with a leap 12-3.50 and junior Julie Ward (Washington, Pa./McGuffey) took second in the javelin with a toss of 149-3.
Both teams will travel to Oxford, Ohio for the 2004 MAC Outdoor Championships, May 13-15.
