Wrestling Signs 13 Student-Athletes For 2004-05

Overall we got a lot of good Ohio talent, which is better then most states, Andrassy said. We have a very large class and takes us up to our 30-man roster. We will be very young with only two seniors.
Tanner Shearer (Clyde, Ohio/St. Mary C.C.) is the most accomplished wrestler of the group winning three state championships.
I believe Tanner will compete for the starting spot at 141, Andrassy said.
Dave Noga (Willowick, Ohio/East Lake North) was a two-time state finalist winning once and will compete at heavyweight.
Drew Lashaway (Bowling Green, Ohio/East Wood) won a state championships and is slated to wrestle at 133 lb.
Clayton Stark (Westlake, Ohio/St. Edwards) placed second at the state championships and will also man the middle weights, wrestling at 125/133 lb.
Michael Blackwell (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood) was a high school All-American and placed once at states while qualifying twice. Blackwell is tabbed to compete at 197 lb.
Eric Chine (Austintown, Ohio/Austintown Fitch), a two-time state qualifier while turning in a fifth-place performance, will compete at 174 lb.
Nathan Spencer (Newbury, Ohio/Mayfield) was a three-time state placee finishing second once and fourth twice. Spencer will compete at 141/149 lb.
Jason Spencer (Newbury, Ohio/Mayfield), who placed fifth at the state meet, will join his brother and battle for time at 141/149 lb.
Cory Maier (Marysville, Ohio/Marysville) was a two-time state qualifier and will compete at 165 lb.
Sean Lutz (Marysville, Ohio/Marysville) was a three-time partcipant at the state meet and two-time placee, finishing third and fifth. He will compete at 149 lb.
Jermail Porter (Akron, Ohio/Akron Firestown) placed second at the state meet and will compete at heavyweight.
Brent Good (Pleasant Plain, Ohio/Moeller) qualified for the state meet all four years of high school, placing second once and sixth twice. He will compete at 125/133 lb.
Joe Whelan (Sandusky, Ohio/St. Marys C.C.) was a four-time state qualifier, winning states once while adding a third and fourth-place finish.
The 13 recruits will join seven returning letterwinners. The Golden Flashes also will welcome back Ben Rings (Marysville, Ohio) who defended the United States in Iraq last year and Tomas Rodriguez (Orange, Ohio/Orange), who missed last season due to an injury.
