Rodriguez Tabbed as MAC Wrestler of the Week

Rodriguez is coming off a second place finish at the 2004 Southern Scuffle in Greensboro, N.C. last week. He posted a 2-1 record, losing in the finals to No. 2 ranked Cole Konrad of the University of Minnesota.
As a team, the Golden Flashes placed fifth overall out of 23. The four teams ahead of Kent State were all ranked in the latest USA Today/NWCA Top 20 coaches poll.
In addition to his strong showing at the Southern Scuffle, Rodriguez was also victorious in his only dual meet action, defeating nationally-ranked Pat DeGains of Indiana on Dec. 21. DeGains went on to win the heavyweight crown at the 2004 Midlands Championships last week.
Rodriguez, 10-2 overall this season, and the Golden Flashes are in action for the first time in 2005 on Wednesday, Jan. 5 when they travel to Cleveland State University to face the Vikings at 7:30 p.m. in Woodling Gymnasium.
