Barniv Named MAC Scholar Athlete Of The Week

KENT, Ohio Mens track and field senior runner Ofer Barniv (Kent, Ohio/Roosevelt) has been named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Mens Scholar Athlete of the Week for his performance during the week ending Feb. 13.

Barniv, who has a 3.767 grade-point-average in business administration, won the weekly honor after placing second in the 3000 meters in a school-record 8:18.46 at the Sykes-Sabock Invite (Feb. 11-12) in State College, Pa. Barniv also ran a leg on the distance medley relay (9:38.86) that finished third and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships (March 11-12) in Fayetteville, Ark.

The MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week honor is presented to a MAC student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that weeks competition. The winners are selected by a voting group of the conferences faculty athletic representatives.
