Men's Golf Moves Up To Eighth To Close Out Aggie Invitational

BRYAN, Texas Sophomore Marc Bourgeois tied for the second-lowest round of the day, shooting a 1-under 71 to help Kent State move into eighth place to close out the Aggie Invitational here today (April 17). The Golden Flashes shot a team total of 302 today to finish with a team mark of 296-301-302=899 (+35).
Oklahoma State won the team title at 6-over 870, while New Mexicos Spencer Lavin and Oklahomas Anthony Kim tied atop the individual leaderboard at 6-under 210.
Bourgeois entered the final round in a tie for 48th, but shot a 1-under par 71 for a total of 76-77-71-224 (+8) to jump all the way to 26th place. He carded a birdie at the par-5 10th hole, his final hole of the round, to get under par. Redshirt freshman Tommy Wiegand tying for 27th, shooting rounds of 73-75-77=225 (+9).
Junior Ryan Yip, who was 12th after two rounds, shot 85 to total 73-72-85=230 (+14), finishing tied for 45th. Senior Peter Laws also tied for 45th carding 74-77-79=230 (+14). Senior Joe Hurtuk rounded out the Kent State five with an 18-over 234 (81-78-75), bouncing back with a 3-over 75 in the final round.
The Aggie Invitational was held at the Traditions Golf Club, a par-72, 7,146-yard layout.
Kent State is next in action next weekend, Saturday-Sunday, April 23-24, at the Kepler Intercollegiate at Ohio State.
