Inge Qualifies For The NCAA Championships In The 800 Meters

KENT, Ohio Mike Inge (Jr., Elyria, Ohio/Elyria) led the KSU charges at the NCAA Mid-East Regional Championships May 28 in Bloomington, Ind. placing fourth and qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor meet in the 800 meters (1:49.41). The men finished 11th with 19.50 points to lead all MAC schools. The University of Arkansas won the team-title with 94.50 points.
A day after running the second-fastest time in school history, the 4x100-meter relay team of Marc Johnson (So., Middletown, Ohio/Middletown), Otis Jordan (Sr., Detroit, Mich./Bishop Gallagher), Marc Mitchell (Sr., Pittsburgh, Pa./North Hills) and Adrian Ghioroaie (Sr., Bucharest, Romania/UTEP) clocked a school-record time of 39.73, placing sixth. Johnson also finished sixth in the 100 meters (10.48).
In the field events, Pawel Dutkiewicz (Jr., Leszno, Poland/Higher School) finished in a tie for sixth in the long jump (24-3.50) while Ghioroaie was ninth in the triple jump (50-4.75)
At large qualifiers for the 2005 NCAA Outdoor Championships (June 8-11) in Sacramento, Calif. will be announced later this week.
