Mens Golf Tied for Sixth at Inverness Intercollegiate

TOLEDO, Ohio The Kent State University mens golf team is tied for sixth after two rounds at the 2005 Inverness Intercollegiate Invitational. The Golden Flashes were third after todays (Sept. 19) first round with a 296 team total, but an afternoon round of 303 put Kent State at 599 (+31).
The Golden Flashes are tied with Ohio State and Illinois after two rounds, trailing Southern California, which sits in first place at 581 (+13). USCs Joshua Wooding is the first round leader at 1-under 141.
Kent State is led by junior Marc Bourgeois, who is at 6-over 148. Bourgeois carded rounds of 70-78148 and is tied for 16th. Senior Ryan Yip is tied for 24th after shooting 73-77150 and is at 8-over.
The Golden Flashes five is rounded out by sophomore Tom Ballinger, who is tied for 37th at 74-78152 (+10), sophomore Tommy Wiegand shot 79-75154 (+12) and is tied for 48th and freshman Ben Moser, playing in his first meet tournament posted rounds of 83-73156 (+14) and is tied for 55th.
The tournament is being played at the legendary Inverness Club, a par-71, 7,255-yard layout, that has hosted four U.S. Opens, one U.S. Amateur, two PGA Championships and one U.S. Senior Open. The course also will host the 2009 NCAA Mens Golf Championships.
Kent State begins the final round, tomorrow, Sept. 20, at 8:45 a.m.
