Men's Golf Finishes Fourth at Windon Memorial

GLENCOE, Ill. Senior Marc Bourgeois carded a 1-under 70 in the final round to pace the Kent State University men's golf team to a fourth-place finish at the Windon Memorial Classic which wrapped up Monday afternoon (Oct. 9) at Skokie Country Club outside of Chicago.
Kent State entered the round in sixth place, but advanced two spots despite posting its worst cumulative total of the tournament at 302. The Golden Flashes finished the event at 900 (+48), tied with Michigan State and Colorado.
Individually, Bourgeois (78-74-70) tied classmate David Markle (72-74-76) for ninth place at 222 (+9). It was Bourgeois second straight top 10 finish.
Junior Tom Ballinger tied for 22nd place with rounds of 74-78-76--228 (+15) while Tommy Wiegand tied for 37th after a tough third round, finishing at 75-75-82--232 (+19). Sophomore Peter Ahn rounded out the Kent State contingent, tying for 43rd at 76-76-80--234 (+21).
SMU, led by individudal medalist Colt Knost (-2, 211), outdistanced runner-up Kansas by 14 strokes to take the team title. The Mustangs were the only team in the field to post three sub-300 composite rounds.
The Golden Flashes are in action this coming weekend, Oct. 14-15, when they travel to Jonesborough, Tenn., for the Bank of Tennessee at the Ridges Intercollegiate at The Ridges Golf and Country Club, hosted by East Tennessee State University.
