Flashes earn national ranking in wrestlng

Kent State's upset 20-18 victory over Ohio State on Sunday (1/7) vaulted the Golden Flashes into the nation's top 25 as KSU garnered 188 points to place 22nd in the latest (1/9) USA Today/Intermat/NWCA Division I Team Rankings.

Last season, for the first time in school history, Kent State finished the season ranked 25^th nationally.

“This is the path we want our program to be on,” said head coach Jim Andrassy. “Ending last season ranked amongst the best in the nation, we approached this season with the goal of moving up in the ranking's and becoming one of the top programs year after year.”

Kent State (5-0, 0-0 MAC) will compete at the Virginia Duals this Friday (1/12) and Saturday (1/13) in Hampton, Virginia.

The USA Today/Intermat/NWCA Coaches Poll is voted on by a representative member of each Division I wrestling conference and one wild card.
