Track travels to Penn State for weekend meet

This weekend's meet is an opportunity for both the men's and women's teams to compete against some of the finest athletes in the country in preparation for the Mid-American Conference Indoor Track Championships in two weeks (2/23-2/24) at the
“This weekend is going to be a good indication of how we're going to be able to perform at the conference championships,” said Head Coach Bill Lawson. “This will be the highest level of competition this year. There will be a number of MAC teams there. There will also be teams from the Big Ten and the Big 12. There will be a lot of very good teams there this weekend.”
Lawson anticipates that several Flashes are ready to have their best performances of the season this weekend. “Mike Inge is on the verge of doing something special in the 800 meters,” Lawson said. “We are also loading up our relay teams to try to get a provisional qualifying time. I also look for Stephanie Hunt and Gabriela Plocka to run well. In addition, I look for a strong performance from I.P. Harris and Mark Johnson as well as an improved performance from pole vaulters .”

Lawson knows that this weekend is a challenge as well as an opportunity. “We're looking forward to the challenge of the high level of competition that we will face,” Lawson said. “We have the opportunity to perform well this weekend and prepare ourselves for the MAC Championships.”
