Bourgeois and Ballinger Awarded Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar Status

NORMAN, Okla. - Kent State University men's golf graduating senior Marc Bourgeois (Dieppe, New Brunswick / Mathieu-Martin) and upcoming senior Tom Ballinger (Mansfield, Ohio / Mansfield St. Peter's) achieved Cleveland Golf All-American Scholar status for the 2006-07 school year by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Only juniors and seniors are eligible for the honor and must have at least a 3.20 cumulative grade-point average. In addition, golfers must be under a 76.0 stroke average.
Bourgeois was a 2006 Mid-American Conference (MAC) co-medalist and graduated in May with a degree in Sports Management after finishing 20th at this year's league championship. Ballinger, a history major, earned All-MAC honors in 2007 and was also selected for the MAC All-Academic Team.
The GCAA is the professional association of men's golf coaches. Established in 1958, this non-profit organization is dedicated to educating, promoting and recognizing its members who participate in men's golf at all levels. Through its established events and programs, the GCAA maintains a goal of increasing awareness and the status of men's golf.
