Kent State Head Coach Jim Andrassy on the match overall:
"We hadn't wrestled in three weeks and it was pretty apparent in our performances. We need to get some of our guys back and healthy that were not in our lineup. In our middle weights, we have some guys out we need to get back and get better at spots. Our first three guys and out last three guys wrestled pretty well. We have to get our middle cleared up."
On 285-Pounder Jermail Porter:
“He was pretty aggressive today. He chose top (to begin the third period), which was different. He wrestled really well today. He went out and attacked the guy and rode him for a lot of riding time...Porter chose top. I would never tell a guy to choose top. We are giving the wrestlers a little more freedom to do try some different things. Porter did a really nice job.
On the week leading up to the match:
It has been a really stressful week with training and finals, so I just wanted to get through this match. We have a break coming up so we can concentrate on training rather than school...Y\ou could tell our guys were stressed out by the end of the week. It is
hard when they have finals to worry about and then they are trying to
train. We try to give them a few days off and then have them come in to
practice when they can. It was totally different this week then what it
will be for the five next weeks.
On 197-Pounder Eric Chine:
With Chine, it was a matter of trying to figure out his weight class and get used to 197 pounds. He wrestled very well today. He threw a guy and wrestled very well overall.
