Kent State Ninth After Round One In Puerto Rico

PALMER, Puerto Rico The Golden Flashes are in a ninth-place tie with top-ranked Georgia after round one of the Puerto Rico Classic hosted by Purdue University. Kent State shot a 6-over 294 and is 10 shots behind co-leaders 11th-ranked Clemson and fifth-ranked Oklahoma State.
Leading the way for the Golden Flashes are senior David Markle (Shelbourne, Ontario/Hartford) and sophomore David Ludlow (Burton, Ohio/Berkshire), who both shot a one-under 71 and are tied for 11th, five strokes behind leader Chesson Hadley of Georgia Tech.
Freshman John Hahn (Kent, Ohio/Hudson) is tied for 34th with a two-over 74 while freshman Jean
Phillipe-Paiement (Des Ruisseaux, Quebec/Polyvalente St Joseph) shot a 78 (+6) and is tied for 64th.
Freshman Brett Cairns (Courtland, Ontario/Holy Trinity) finished with a 10-over 82.
Second-round action begins tomorrow at 8 a.m.
