Track teams go west for Mid-American Conference Championships

Leading the way for the Golden Flashes are seniors Jaroslaw Zakrzewski, John Harper, Shamel Smith, Nick Ivancic, Anne Zakelj and Andrea Bryson, juniors LeVania Henderson, Evan Whiting, Sha-Tira Snell, Tony Jordanek and Bekah Stoltz, and sophomores Curtis Eaton Jr., Aiman Scullion, Jessica Lhotsky, Matt Pfleger and Jeremy Brading and freshman Allison Krupko. In addition, KSU women's and men's 4x400 relay teams enter this weekend's competition fresh off first place finishes last weekend.
In the men's hammer throw, Zakrzewski hit a mark of 210'-00” to place fifth overall at the Jesse Owens Classic at
Harper was honored for his performance at the Drake Relays at
Smith finished second in the men's high jump (7'-1.”) at the Jesse Owens Classic. Smith's jump is also a regional qualifying mark.
Ivancic won the men's 400 meter hurdles with a time of 51.76 at the Campbell/Wright Invitational at the
Zakelj elevated herself to a height of 5'-7” in the women's high jump to take second place at the Owens Classic. She followed that up with a first place finish (5'-6”) at the Campbell/Wright Invitational at the
Bryson to finish 10th in the women's 200-meter dash with a time of 24.41 at the Owens Classic.
Earlier this season, Henderson was honored for her performance at the All-Ohio Track and Field Championships at the University of Cincinnati (4/18 and 4/19) when she was selected as the Mid-American Conference women's Field Athlete of the Week announced on Monday (4/21) by the conference office.
Whiting tossed the shot put 60-0 ½ for a second-place finish in the men's competition last weekend in
Snell reached a lifetime personal record in the women's 100-meter hurdles and narrowly missed qualifying for the 2008 NCAA Track & Field Mid East Regional with a winning time of 13.93 at the Northeast Ohio Quad Meet at the University of Akron (4/11 and 4/12).
Jordanek won the men's 1,500-meters with a time of 3:57.76 on Saturday (May 10) during the meet's final day of competition at the Campbell/Wright Invitational
Stoltz won the women's javelin throw on the opening day of the All-Ohio Championships (4/18) in
Eaton Jr. helped
Scullion took second place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 14 minutes, 32.85 seconds on Friday (May 2) during the first day of competition at the Jesse Owens Classic.
Lhotsky finished third in the women's 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 8.91 seconds last weekend.
At the All-Ohio Championships in
Pfleger won the men's hammer throw at the Campbell/Wright Invitational (186'-2”) last weekend.
Brading is the MAC's defending champion in the pole vault.
Krupko won the women's 3,000 meter run with a time of 10 minutes, 44.75 seconds at the Campbell/Wright Invitational at the
KSU's women's 4x400 meter relay squad of Lhotsky, juniors Amber Thomas and Ashley Rhodaback, and freshman Shavae Wright, crossed the finish line first in a time of 4:00.41 at the Campbell/Wright Invitational at the
