MAC Golfer of the Year shot an even par on day one of stroke play
PINEHURST, N.C. - Kent State sophomore John Hahn (Hudson, Ohio / Hudson) shot an even par 70 in round one of the 108th U.S. Amateur Championship at Pinehurst Resort & Country Club on Monday. Hahn ended the day tied for 21st overall, three strokes back of the lead. The low 64 scores after two rounds advance to match play on Wednesday.
The 2008 Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Year, Hahn started his opening round with birdies on two of the first three holes. Playing course No. 4 at Pinehurst, he would go on to post two more birdies before making the turn back to the front nine at three-under. The first team All-MAC performer had seven pars on the front nine but a double on hole one and a bogey on No. 8 left him with a three-over 38 on the front and an even par 70 for the day.
Hahn is scheduled to tee-off course No. 2 at 12:45 pm on Tuesday.
