Kent State's men's Indoor track and field team was selected to finish third and the women's squad was tabbed to finish fifth in the 2009 Mid-American Conference Indoor Track and Field Preseason Poll as voted on by the league's head coaches.
On the women's side, Akron was selected to defend its 2008 conference title. Western Michigan was tabbed second followed by Miami and Central Michigan. Kent State was picked to finish fifth, while Ball State was selected to place sixth. Buffalo, Toledo, Ohio, Eastern Michigan, Bowling Green and Northern Illinois rounded out this year's preseason poll.
On the men's side, Akron is followed by Eastern Michigan in second and Kent State in third. Buffalo and Central Michigan round out this year's poll in fourth and fifth, respectively.
Kent State will host the 2009 MAC Men and Women's Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 27-28 at the Kent State Fieldhouse.
