Men's team is 2nd, Women 7th at Sykes-Sabock Challenge Track Meet

The men's team finished second overall with a total of 92 points as sophomore Destin Heasley (Massillon, Ohio/Massillon Washington) secured the only victory of the day for the Kent State Golden Flashes track and field team when he finished first in the men's 600 meters with a time of 1:18.61 on the final day of competition at the 2009 Sykes-Sabock Challenge Cup hosted by Penn State University in State College, Pennsylvania on Saturday (2/7). “We had a good meet all around,” said Head Coach Bill Lawson. “We got some solid performances from several athletes. They key was we performed well, but still haven't flexed our muscles. We held some athletes out this weekend and still scored well as a team. We will spend the next few weeks getting ready for the conference (Mid-American) championships.”
KSU's men's 4x400 meter relay team of freshman Princeton Bryson (Toledo, Ohio/Bowsher), sophomore Matt Moffett (Salem, Ohio/Salem), freshman Colin Pettiford (Toledo, Ohio/St. Francis deSales), and junior Curtis Eaton Jr. (Akron, Ohio/Buchtel) placed second with a time of 3:13.36. That time is the fourth fastest in school history. Earlier in the day, Eaton Jr. placed third in the men's 400 meters with a time of 48.34 and Bryson finished fifth in the men's 200 meters with a time of 21.67.
