Lashaway Named Kent State Athlete of the Week

After winning the 141-pound weight class at the Mid-American Conference Tournament, fifth-year senior Drew Lashaway (Bowling Green/Pemberville Eastwood) was named the Kent State Athlete of the Week for the second time this season. At the MAC Championships, Kent State finished second with a team score of 82.5.
Lashaway stepped to the mat and closed his conference career as a MAC champion in an offensive outburst. Lashaway took the lead with two takedowns in the first. CMU's Tony D'Alie recorded escapes in the first and second, but Lashaway received three back points to lead 7-2 after two. An escape and the riding point in the final period gave Lashway the 141-pound championship.
Joining him on the podium as conference champions where redshirt junior Danny Mitcheff at 133 (Wrestler of the Tournament), redshirt freshman Dustin Kilgore at 184 (MAC Freshman of the Year) and fifth-year senior Jermail Porter at 285 (MAC Wrestler of the Year). Head coach Jim Andrassy also was named MAC Coach of the Year.
