Golden Flashes Head To Texas For The Aggie Invitational This Weekend

The Golden Flashes heads to Texas for the Aggie Invitational this weekend in their final event before the Mid-American Conference Championship. Kent State will be playing for its four straight top five finish this season in a field that consists of five top 25 teams. Live scoring will be available on www.golfstat.com
The Course
The golf course at the Traditions Club opened in 2004 and is a co-design between Jack Nicklaus and Jack Nicklaus II. This par 72, 7,235-yard championship design features stately hardwoods, many natural creeks and wetlands, and an attention to detail which distinguished all of the Nicklaus Design golf courses. .
Participating Teams
The 12-team field features five of the nation's top 25 teams including No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 12 TCU, No. 13 Texas Tech, No. 20 San Diego State and No. 22 Texas A&M, the host school.
No. 45 in the latest golfstat.com rankings, the Golden Flashes will also be up against No. 40 New Mexico, No. 41 Lamar, No. 43 Baylor, as well as Kansas, Wichita State and Ohio State.

KSU Line-Up
Brett Cairns, John Hahn, Mackenzie Hughes, Nick Latimer, David Ludlow
Having played in all 70 rounds for the Golden Flashes over the past two seasons, sophomore Brett Cairns has four straight top 20 finishes this year and is averaging 72.8 strokes per round during his streak. With a team best 15 rounds of par or better and a 72.4 scoring average, sophomore John Hahn has a .787 finish percentage this season.
Freshman Mackenzie Hughes has been in the line-up every event this season and has seven rounds of par or better during the spring. Last weekend senior Nick Latimer was just three strokes of the lead after the first 36 holes before tying for 18th overall. He'll aim for his third top 20 finish in the past four weeks this weekend. After a team best 73 in the final round last Sunday, junior David Ludlow lowered his season average to 74.2 this season.
KSU at The Aggie Invitational
Kent State played in the 2006 Aggie Invitational finishing fourth overall. Tom Ballinger led the team with a three-over 219 (71-75-73), placing him ninth.
