Latimer Grabs Three-Stroke Lead at NEO Amateur

2009 KSU Grad is three-under for the tournament
KENT, Ohio Former Kent State golfer Nick Latimer (Brooklyn, Ohio / Brooklyn) shot a one-under 71 on Wednesday to open up a three-stroke lead at the 2009 Northeast Ohio Amateur Invitational. The lone senior on the Golden Flashes roster this past season, Latimer was named to the Mid-American Conference All-Tournament team and earned a KSU Academic Athletic Excellence Award.
The 2009 grad begin the tournament on Monday at Lake Forest Country Club. Latimer shot a two-under 70 in that first round leaving him tied with Chris Minear. On Wednesday the event moved over to Oberlin Country Club where the one-under 71 by Latimer gave him a three-shot advantage on the field.
The third and fourth rounds of the 72-hole tournament will commence next Monday (June 29) at Lakewood Country Club.
Latimer is scheduled for a 9:51 am tee time.
Also competing in the event is Kent State junior to be John Furlong (Medina, Ohio / Medina). Furlong is tied for 15th after rounds of 77 and 74 put him at seven over (151) for the tournament. He is scheduled for a 9:15 am tee time next Monday.
