Flashes Boast 7th Highest GPA in the Nation

KENT, Ohio - The National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its Top Ten All-Academic Teams based on grade point averages from the 2008-09 school year on Monday (Sept. 28). Among all Division I teams in the nation, Kent State finished seventh with a 3.43 GPA.
Leading the academic charge for the Flashes was Katie Wheeler, who not only recorded a 4.0 for the year, but graduated in May with a perfect 4.0. Wheeler was one of 12 players on the roster to carry a 3.5 or better on the year. Of the 24 players on the roster, 23 had a GPA of 3.0 or better.
The Golden Flashes had the highest finish among all Mid-American Conference teams. Robert Morris had the highest GPA among all Division I teams with a 3.610.
With a long history of academic success, KSU has had 14 different players honored as Academic All-Americans.
