
Aaralyn Nogay Surpasses 100 Career Hits as Golden Flashes Sweep Bowling Green

KENT – The Kent State University Softball team (17-16, 7-5 MAC) completed their three=game series sweep of Bowling Green State University on Saturday afternoon winning the contest 5-2. Aaralyn Nogay was just a home run away from a cycle as she surpassed 100 career hits in the ballgame. The sweep is Kent State's second of a MAC opponent this season, as they also remain unbeaten at home.
In the bottom of the first, Nogay singled to notch her 100th hit then swiped second. Brynn Libler followed with a bunt single and stole second as well and Megan Claerhout plated the first run with a groundout to make it 1-0.
The Golden Flashes extended their lead in the third when Nogay tripled to right and scored on a sacrifice fly from Libler, pushing it to 2-0. Gabby Quinn drew a walk in the fourth and moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. She came home when Alex Trevena swiped second base on a failed rundown attempt by BG to make it 3-0 in a sequence that showcased Kent State's aggressive baserunning. The Flashes finished with four stolen bases on the day.
After Bowling Green pulled to within 3-2 in the top of the fifth, Kent State answered immediately. Nogay led off with a double to left center and Claerhout came through with an RBI single to right to restore the two-run lead at 4-2. Quinn capped the scoring in the sixth, tripling to right field and coming home when Trevena reached on an error to make it 5-2.
Meadow Ferri was dominant in her five innings of work, holding Bowling Green off the scoreboard entirely. Ferri earned the win reentering in the seventh slam the door and improve to 5-4 on the season.
Aaralyn Nogay was the offensive catalyst from the opening at-bat, reaching base in each of her four plate appearances and finishing the day 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, three runs scored, and a stolen base.
On Deck for the Flashes
Kent State will turn their attention to a midweek series against rival Akron starting on Tuesday, April 7. The series opener will take place at Firestone Stadium at 7:00 p.m., and will continue Wednesday, April 8 with a doubleheader hosted by the Flashes at Devine Diamond. Start times for the doubleheader are set for 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.
