KENT, Ohio – Kent State senior midfielder Rachel Miller (Bathhurst, Australia / MacKillop College) and junior forward Debbie Bell (Hamilton, New Zealand/Waikato) were both named to the Longstreth/NFHCA All-West Region First Team in an official announcement by the organization.
The 2009 and 2010 Mid-American Conference Player of the Year, Miller was selected to the team for the fourth straight year, while Bell earned the nod for the third time in as many years.
In her final season with the Golden Flashes, Miller led the MAC and was 17th in the country with 14 assists. She also chipped in 11 goals and was just one of nine players in the nation with double figures in goals and assists. Her 51 career assists place her second all-time in Kent State's annals, while her 45 goals are tied for the seventh most in program history. Miller finished with 141 points, which is the fifth highest total at Kent State. She started all 85 games during her four-year career and was named to the All-MAC First Team and All-MAC Tournament team four times. She capped off the 2010 season earning MAC Tournament MVP honors this fall.
Bell continued her climb to the top of the Kent State record books with another prolific season. This fall she scored 26 goals to top the MAC, and she finished sixth in the country with a 1.18 goals per game average. Bell has already shattered the career mark for goals (76) and points (168) at Kent State with still full season left in her career. During the year, Bell had a stretch of five consecutive multi-goal games including a five-goal outburst against Missouri State, which was tied for the second most goals scored by any player in the country this year. She was named to the All-MAC First Team for the third straight year and the All-MAC Tournament team for the first time this year.
The Golden Flashes won a share of the MAC regular season title for the third consecutive year with a 15-7 overall record and an 8-2 league mark. Kent State won the MAC Tournament and advanced to the NCAA Play-in game before falling to American, 2-1, in the opening round.
