Huge Alumni Day Turnout Caps Off 2010 Spring Season For Kent State

Golden Flashes welcomed back over 25 former player for a day a fun and memories
KENT, Ohio — The Kent State field hockey team completed its spring 2010 season with a well attended alumni day celebration on May 1. Over 25 former players turned out for the annual event which featured a friendly contest and BBQ.
Earlier this spring Kent State took part in the Longstreth Midwest Spring League.
The Golden Flashes wrapped up the spring season by handing out their annual team awards. Sophomore Carla Johl (Hamilton, New Zealand / Waikato) earned the Players Player Award. The Most Improved Award went to sophomore Amanda Hoffman (Allentown, Pa. / William Allen) while freshman Ashley Espy (Fort Worth, Tex. / Country Day) was named Rookie of the Year.
In addition to the team accolades the Blue and Gold also named captains for the 2011 season. Senior to be Rachel Miller (Bathurst, Australia / MacKillop College) and junior to be Stephanie Arbelaez (San Diego, Calif. / Mira Mesa) were selected to captain the Golden Flashes in the fall.
The Golden Flashes are scheduled to begin the 2010 season against William and Mary on August 28 at James Madison.
