Miller Claims Ohio Publinx Title

2010 MAC Freshman of the Year wins his second event of the summer
ASHVILLE, Ohio — Kent State men's golfer Kevin Miller (Dover, Ohio / Sugarcreek Garaway) posted his second amateur win of the summer with a three stroke victory over a 130-man field at the 2010 Ohio Publinx Championship last Friday.
Miller, the 2010 Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year, posted rounds of 72, 65, 70 and 72 for a nine-under 279 total and a three-stroke victory over Brendan Jenkins of Dublin, Ohio. The tournament was held at Cooks Creek Golf Club in Ashville this year and dates back to 1928. Miller joins a long list of Golden Flashes to have won the event, including current Associate Head Coach Rob Wakeling who won at Steeplechase in Canton in 1992.
Earlier this summer the rising KSU sophomore captured the 80th Record-Courier Portage County Amateur. The Overall and Open Division champion, Miller fired a 144 to win the 36-hole event held at Windmill Lakes and Aurora Golf Club. Posting rounds of 73 and 71 he carded the lowest total among the more than 135 competitors by five strokes.
