No. 12/14 Men's Golf Wraps Up Fall Schedule With Prestigious U.S. Collegiate In Georgia

With wins in two of their four events this season Kent State has climbed to No. 12 in the Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings and No. 14 in the Golfstat.com ratings. The Golden Flashes will look to defend those rankings at the prestigious U.S. Collegiate Championship starting on Sunday. Format
The tournament consists of 54-holes over three days. First round play starts Sunday, followed by 18 holes on Monday and 18 on Tuesday. Kent State will be paired with Washington & Virginia for round one and Duke & Iowa for round two. Third round pairing will be determined by the team standings after 36 holes.
Since 2006 the USCC has been one of the premier events in college golf. Hosted by Atlantic Coast Conference champion Georgia Tech at The Golf Club of Georgia's award-winning Lakeside Course it is often called "the Masters of college golf." The tournament begins on Sunday with 14 of the nation's finest college teams playing the first of three tournament rounds, beginning at 9 a.m.
Unlike any other tournament in college golf, the USCC features caddies for every player and an intimate fan opportunity to walk behind the players in the fairway, with no gallery ropes, in the style of the U.S. Amateur and Walker Cup.
Golden Flashes Line-Up
Representing the Golden Flashes this week are senior Mackenzie Hughes, junior Kevin Miller, sophomores Taylor Pendrith, Kyle Kmiecik, Corey Conners.
The Course
The Golf Club of Georgia's Lakeside Course was named "Best New Private Course in America" by Golf Digest in 1991 and plays to 7,017 yards and a par-72. The Golf Club of Georgia is a private, member-owned club north of Atlanta featuring two championship Arthur Hills-designed courses, Lakeside and Creekside, which was completed in 1993. The Golf Club of Georgia also has hosted the Georgia Amateur, the NCAA East Regional Championship and U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying.
The Field
The Golden Flasheshave been up against challenging field all season and this week will be no different. Kent State helps make up a 14-team field that consists of 11 of the top 30 tams in the nation. Competing this week are: No. 4 Auburn, No. 6 Washington, No. 7 Florida State, No. 12 Georgia Tech, No. 13 Virginia, No. 19 Clemson, No. 24 UCLA, No. 26 Texas A&M, No. 27 Duke, No. 29 Iowa, No. 38 Wake Forest, No. 55 USC, and East Tennesse State. Kent State at the U.S. Collegiate
This marks Kent State's second appearance at the U.S. Collegiate which is going into its sixth year this fall. The Golden Flashes finished in a tie for ninth place last season withs 54-hole score to 889 (294-301-294). Four of the current players in the Kent State line-up competed last season led by Taylor Pendrith who tied for 20th with a three-over 219 (72-74-73).
