No. 18/30 Men's Golf In Action At Muirfield Village For Jack Nicklaus Invitational Monday

Coming off their first fall tournament victory since 2004, the No. 18/30 Kent State men's golf team looks to defend its national ranking in the high profile Jack Nicklaus Invitational early next week. The 12-team tournament which features at least 10 teams ranked 55 or higher in both the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings and the Golfstat.com takes place a legendary Muirfield Village Country Club in Dublin, Ohio on Monday-Tuesday, Oct. 10-11. Format
The tournament consists of 54-holes over two days. The first and second rounds will be played consecutively starting with a 9:00 am shotgun start on Monday. Final round tee times on Tuesday range from 8:06-10:06 am off Nos. 1 and 10.
Golden Flashes Line-Up
Representing the Golden Flashes this week are senior Mackenzie Hughes, junior Kevin Miller, sophomores Taylor Pendrith, Kyle Kmiecik and freshman Nick Scott.
The Course
Consisting of a par 72, 7,352-yard layout, Muirfield Village has been home of the prestigious Memorial Tournament since 1976. The course has been consistently ranked in the Top 20 in the United States and Top 50 in the world since it opened. Voted the No. 1 course in golf-rich Ohio, the name was inspired by Jack Nicklaus' first British Open victory in 1966 at Muirfield, Scotland.
The Field
The Golden Flashes will be joined in the national ranked 12-team field by No. 3/4 Arkansas, No. 21/23 Illinois, No. 45/35 LSU, No. North Carolina, No. 83/81 Ohio State, No. 5/5 Oklahoma State, No. 29/48 Purdue, No. 11/3 Texas, No. 32/31 TCU, No. 56/55 Texas Tech and (N/A) UCLA (rankings are listed as golfweek/golfstat).
Kent State At the Jack Nicklaus Invitational
This is the second consecutive year for the tournament in its current format. Held last year at the Scioto Country Club. The Golden Flashes finished 10th in another loaded field with a 54-hole total of 907 (313-296-298). Mackenzie Hughes was the top finisher for Kent State trying for 13th with a 219 (75-71-73).

Up Next
Kent State will have a quick turnaround as they head to the Bank of Tennessee at the Ridges on Friday, October 14. The Golden Flashes then wrap up their fall schedule as they travel to Georgia for the United States Collegiate Oct. 23-25.
