KENT, Ohio - Kent State junior Dustin Kilgore (Berea, Ohio/Berea) was named Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week Wednesday, following a pair of pins last weekend in conference dual victories for the Golden Flashes (14-5, 4-0 MAC). After a 30-6 win over Ohio Friday and a 30-3 victory at Eastern Michigan Sunday, KSU has clinched at least a share of the MAC regular season title.
Against the Bobcats, Kilgore needed 4:50 to flatten Erik Schuth in a cradle. Schuth was ranked No. 11 by The Open Mat and D1CW.
Two days later, Kilgore used a fireman's carry to put Eastern Michigan's Travis Stanback on his back for a fall in just 17 seconds. With the victory, Kilgore passed Alex Camargo for second place among Kent State's career win leaders with 127. He is now four wins behind all-time leader Danny Mitcheff.
Kilgore is currently ranked No. 4 according to three different national polls. He is 30-2 on the season with team highs of nine falls, nine major decisions and four technical falls. He has won in 48 straight dual meets and is 14-0 in career MAC duals.
The No. 15 Golden Flashes look to secure an outright MAC regular season title Sunday, visiting No. 25 Central Michigan.
