Kent State Tied For Fourth As Darkness Halts Second Round In Arizona

Golden Flashes will finish round two at 7:00am Tuesday before a shotgun start at 8:00am for round three
TUCSON, Ariz. — The Kent State men's golf team sits in a three-way tie for fourth place as darkness fell on the second round of the National Invitational Tournament at the OMNI Tucson National Golf Club. The Golden Flashes are one of three teams that will complete the second round starting at 7:00 am on Tuesday.
Led by a 73 from freshmen Corey Conners (Listowel, Ontario) Kent State shot a team score of 302 in the first round. Junior Mackenzie Hughes (Dundas, Ontario / Highland Secondary) followed with a 74 in the opening round and was even par through 15 holes in the second. Hughes will begin Tuesday tied for fourth at two-over for the tournament.
Conners fell back a bit in the second round where he sits at seven-over with three holes remaining. The freshman is eight-over for the tournament and tied for 27th. Senior John Hahn (Las Vegas, Nev. / Hudson [Ohio]) and freshman Taylor Pendrith (Richmond Hill, Ontario) are one stroke back of Conners at nine-over thus far in a tie for 33rd. Another senior, Brett Cairns (Courtland, Ontario/Holy Trinity) opened with a 78 and is currently 10-over through the first 32 holes of the event.
Sophomore Isaac Charette (Hudson, Ohio / Hudson) was also in action competing as an individual and is +13 for the tournament.
SMU (584), Tulsa (584), and host Arizona (584) are tied for the tournament lead at 16-over.
Following the completion of the second round at 7:00 a.m. the third and final round concludes tomorrow with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start.
