Kent State looks to secure its third straight and 19th overall Mid-American Conference title as the Golden Flashes head to TPC River's Bend inMaineville, Ohio. Miami will be the host school for the 65th annual event that will consist of 72-holes over three days. In addition to Kent State, the nine-team MAC Championship field includes Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, Miami, Northern Illinois, Ohio and Toledo.

The Course
The TPC River's Bend is a 7,180 yard par-72 course. It is one of the Tri-State's Premiere Golf Courses having hosted the Champions Tour and the Nationwide Tour in recent years. An Arnold Palmer Design, TPC offers a challenging layout in a dramatic setting. The course highlights include the par-3 5th and 7th holes, which play over hazards to challenging green surfaces.
Named by Golf Digest among the "Top 10 Best New Private Clubs in the U.S." when it debuted in 2002 and among the "Best In The State of Ohio" for 2007-2008, and 2009-2010, TPC River's Bend offers a winning combination: 18 holes of golf designed by the legendary Arnold Palmer; an array of amenities; and the personalized service and privileges that have become synonymous with the PGA TOUR's TPC Network of premier clubs. .
Up Next
The winner will receive the MAC's automatic bid to one of six NCAA Regional sites May 19-21. The hosts for the 2011 regional sites are Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Indiana, San Diego and Virginia Tech.
2010 MAC Championship Recap
Led by the top three players, Kent State equaled a Mid-American Conference men's golf record by winning its 18th MAC title with a 22-stroke victory at the 2010 MAC Championship held at Longaberger Golf Club. The Golden Flashes shot a two-over 290 in Sunday's final round to finish the tournament with a two-under 1150 (296-282-282-290) team score and claim their second straight championship. Kent State juniors Brett Cairns and John Hahn shared individual honors.
The duo each carded a three-under 285 with Cairns posting rounds of 75-67-70-73 and Hahn going 76-70-70-69. Its the third time a pair of Kent State teammates have shared MAC medalist honors as they become the 18th and 19th individuals from KSU to win.
Just one stroke back in third place stood sophomore Mackenzie Hughes (Dundas, Ontario / Highland Secondary) who went 72-72-70-72 for a two-under 286. The Kent State threesome also finished 1-2-3 last season.
Eastern Michigan was runner up with an 1172 followed by Akron in third with a 1196. Miami (1202), Ohio (1212), Northern Illinois (1213), Toledo (1219), Ball State (1222) and Bowling Green (1232) completed the standings.
Cairns, Hahn and Hughes were named All-Tournament team along with Cam Burke of Eastern Michigan and Jeff Dick of Northern Illinois.
Kent State has won 14 of the last 19 MAC Championships, and is now tied with Ohio for the most men's golf MAC titles.

The Golden Flashes are ranked No. 34 in the latest golfstat.com ratings system and No. 35 in Golfweek/Sagarin Rankings. Representing the team this week will be seniors John Hahn and Brett Cairns, junior Mackenzie Hughes, sophomore Kevin Miller and freshman Tayor Pendrith.
