The Game
Kent State (4-2) continues a two game road swing on Wednesday night by traveling to Youngstown State (3-3) for a Northeast Ohio showdown. The Golden Flashes are looking build upon a 74-60 win at Nebraska on Saturday that marked the program's first victory at a Big Ten school since 1970.
Named the MAC East Player of the Week for a second time this season on Monday, senior Chris Evans has given the statcrew a workout this season. The 6'8" forward averaged 16.5 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting over 66 percent from the field in two wins last week. Evans had a signature performance on Saturday night as he connected on 8-9 shots on the way to a team best 19 points and six rebounds. On the year he leads Kent State in scoring (17.2 ppg), rebounding (7.2 rpg) assists (2.2 apg), steals (2.4 spg), blocks (1.0 bpg), FG percentage (.597) and FT percentage (.781).
Junior Darren Goodson also played a key role in Saturday's win. The 6'5" junior college transfer had his best game in a Kent State uniform scoring 16 points on 8-10 shooting after entering the game having scored just 12 points on the year.
Youngstown State has lost three straight following a three game winning streak to start the year that included a 68-56 win at Georgia. With 17.7 points per game, Kendrick Perry leads four players on the team averaging in double figures.
