Kent State Alum Ben Curtis Wins Valero Texas Open For His Fourth Career PGA Victory

What a journey it has been for former Kent State men's golfer Ben Curtis. First thrust onto the PGA Tour scene with his vicotry at the 2003 British Open, Curtis picked up his fourth career Tour win this weekend at the Valero Texas Open.
The title is the first for Curits since winning the 84 LUMBER Classic in 2006. The victory nets the three-time all-american $1,116,000 and a two-year TOUR exemption.
"I could not be more happy for Ben, his wife Candace, and the doors this will open for them," said Kent State Director of Golf/Head Coach Herb Page, who coached Curtis from 1997-00. "I know a lot of people had starting giving up and having their doubts, but I never lost faith."
"He had been hanging around and practicing at our golf center the last few weeks and I knew it would only be a matter of time before he broke through again."
