Mackenzie Hughes Defends His Canadian Men's Amateur Title

For the second straight year Mackenzie Hughes is crowned the national champion of Canada. The Recent Kent State grad defended his title at the 2012 Canadian Men's Amateur Championship finishing with a 12-under, 276 (72-67-65-72).
The win qualifies Hughes for the U.S. amateur championship at the Cherry Hills Country Club in Colorado next week. He also earns a spot in next year's Canadian Open at Glen Abbey.
Kent State staked claimed to two other top five finishers. Plaing fourth was rising junior Corey Conners at 9-under, 279 (71-67-69-72) while classmate Taylor Pendrith finished in a tie for 5th at 7-under, 281 (72-66-70-73).
