Seven Kent State football players were recently named to Phil Steele's 2013 Preseason All-Mid American Conference Team, including three first team members.Â
Headlining the Golden Flashes' offense is senior Dri Archer (Laurel, Fla.), who was picked as a first team running back.  Helping pave the way for Archer will be senior left guard Pat McShane (Stow, Ohio), who claimed a spot on the third team. Junior Trayion Durham (Cincinnati, Ohio) was named to the fourth team, making Kent State the only squad with two running backs given the preseason honor.
Three-time All-MAC First Team selection Roosevelt Nix (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) enters his senior year on Steele's preseason first team. Senior safety Luke Wollet (Poland, Ohio) was selected to the second team, while senior defensive end Mark Fackler (Kenton, Ohio) was placed on the fourth team.
Sophomore Anthony Melchiori (Aurora, Ohio) was named as the first team punter after helping the Golden Flashes finish 12th in the nation in net punting in 2012. Opponents only gained yards on punt returns in 6-of-14 games last season.
In 2012, Archer and Durham combined for 2,745 rushing yards, helping Kent State record program-highs in both points (463) and total offense (5,436). Defensively, Nix, Wollet and Fackler produced a combined 10 of the Flashes' 38 forced turnovers.
The Golden Flashes are coming off an unprecedented 11-win season, going 8-0 in Mid-American Conference play. Kent State kicks off the 2013 season Aug. 29 against Liberty.
