For the second time in three years, Dustin Kilgore (Berea, Ohio) will be a member of the United States National Team. The recent Kent State graduate placed second in the challenge tournament of his 96 kilogram bracket at the 2013 U.S. World Team Trials this past weekend inside Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla.
After drawing a bye in the opening round, Kilgore took on David Zabriskie, a 2010 NCAA heavyweight champion for Iowa State. Kent State's 2011 NCAA champion ended the match early with three takedowns and a turn for an 8-1 technical fall in the opening 1:39.
Kilgore then defeated Jack Jensen 11-7 in the semifinals, coming back from a 7-2 deficit. In the finals, Chris Pendleton topped Kilgore 8-0, sending him into a championship round against JD Bergman.
