KENT, Ohio - Reggie Jagers, who recently completed his freshman year at Kent State, will compete for Team USA at the Pan Am Junior Athletics Championships Aug. 23-25 in Medellin, Colombia. Jagers earned his spot with a discus throw of 191 feet, six inches this past weekend to claim runner-up honors at the 2013 USA Junior Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa. The event was composed of the nation's top junior athletes ages 16-19.
Jagers, a native of Solon, Ohio, and graduate of Solon High School where he starred in both football and track and field, was fresh off an 18th-place finish earlier this month at the 2013 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships in Eugene, Ore. His discus throw of 178-2 earned honorable mention All-American status.
Jagers was ranked 42nd nationally in the discus following his 183-8 toss in April at the Northeast Ohio Quad. Â
