
Offensive Struggles Result in 55-31 Loss at Ball State

MUNCIE, Ind. – Kent State (3-11, 0-3 MAC) struggled to score and committed a season-high 32 turnovers in a 55-31 defeat in its first conference road game at Ball State (7-7, 2-1 MAC) Sunday afternoon (Jan. 12).
The Golden Flashes did have success on defense, coming away with 13 steals and eight blocks in the game. They also equaled the Cardinals with 40 rebounds.
Neither team could get much going offensively in the first half, as neither shot better than 25%; Ball State led 21-10 at the intermission with help from a 8-for-8 free-throw shooting performance.
In the second half, Ball State continued to shoot well at the line, making 17 of 24 attempts, while Kent State sunk just five of their 16 free throws to increase the deficit.
Rachel Mendelsohn led the Golden Flashes in scoring with seven points, all coming in the second half. She also led the team with eight rebounds. CiCi Shannon had five blocks before fouling out with three minutes to go. Mikell Chinn led the team in assists and steals with four and five, respectively.
