Kent State Hosts Central Michigan Wednesday Night

THE GAME
Kent State (3-13, 0-5 MAC) is set to host Central Michigan (9-8, 5-0 MAC) this Wednesday (Jan. 22) at 7:00pm in the M.A.C. Center.
The Golden Flashes dropped the first PNC Wagon Wheel matchup this season in Akron this past Sunday, falling 51-77 to the ZIps. The game was close up unitl the second media timeout of the first half when Kent State trailed just 14-11. But, Akron began to pull away after the break and led 36-19 at halftime. The game was full of turnovers and fouls with a combined 48 of each in the game. The Golden Flashes were responsible for 27 of each. Akron was able to score 28 points off of Kent State's turnovers. Rachel Mendelsohn netted a team-high 14 points while Montia Johnson netted 11. Mikell Chinn had six assists and six steals. CiCi Shannon kept on her season average with three blocks.
The Golden Flashes started the month of December by winning two in a row for the first time since January of the 2011-12 season. With three wins already in their keeping, they have already matched last year's win total. Their most recent victory, a 69-46 domination of Niagara, was the team's largest win-margin since December 1, 2010.
The Chippewas had a tough non-conference schedule, playing two Top 10 nationally ranked teams, entering MAC play with a 4-8 non-conference record. However, they are now undefeated in the conference after five games with wins against Toledo, Northern Illinois, Bowling Green, at Akron and at Buffalo. Crystal Bradford is coming off a week where she was named the NCAA Women's Basketball Player of the Week. She leads the team with 20.1 points per game and 11.6 rebounds. She also has 61 assists, 47 steals and 22 blocks so far this season.
