No. 22 Gymnastics Hits the Road to Western Michigan Friday

Kent State's gymnastics team hits the road Friday, January 24 to take on Mid-American Conference foe, Western Michigan as part of ' Girl Day' at 7 pm in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
The Golden Flashes (4-1, 1-0 MAC) enter the meet after a 195.400-194.150 victory over North Carolina State on Sunday, Jan. 19 in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center in part of the Beauty and the Beast event with the wrestling team.
Senior Marie Case, MAC gymnast of the week, took second in the all-around (39.275) for the Flashes against NC State. Case took first in the floor exercise with a score of 9.900, tied for first in the uneven parallel bars (9.800), tied for second on balance beam (9.825) and tied for third on the vault, 9.850.
Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan comes into the meet with a third place finish at a tri-meet with Arkansas and Bridgeport on Jan. 10 (190.650) in Arkansas, and fell to Bowling Green on Jan. 17 192.825-191.425 in Kalamazoo, Mich.
Against BG in the Broncos home-opener, they saw three individual first place finishes out of the four events. Sophomore Jessi Buis won the balance beam, while seniors Shelby MacDonald and Lauren Bledsoe each took first place in the uneven bars and floor exercise, respectively.
The Series
This will be the 71st meeting between the Flashes and Broncos. Kent State holds the tremendous 50-20 advantage over the Broncos, while Western Michigan took the last meeting by a slim margin 194.800-194.775 on March 23, 2013 in Kalamazoo.
The Golden Flashes return home to host Northern Illinois at 7 pm on Friday, February 7 in the M.A.C. Center for the "Flip for the Cure" meet.
