Kent State Signee Brittney Jakscht Named Nation’s Top Senior Setter by PrepVolleyball.com

Kent State volleyball signee Brittney Jakscht received the Andi Collins Award from PrepVolleyball.com, which is presented to the top senior setter in the nation.
Jakscht completed a standout prep career this past fall by leading her East Troy High School team to a perfect 44-0 record en route to the No. 5 ranking by PrepVolleyball.com. She received all-state and all-conference accolades following each of her final three prep seasons and was named Rock Valley Conference Player of the Year as a junior and senior.
"Brittney has many of the qualities every coach looks for in a setter, but the one that stands out the most for us is her ability to make her teammates better," head coach Don Gromala said. "She is a complete setter who also contributes to her team's success by finding ways to score with her dump, keeping rallies alive with her defense and putting up a solid block that opposing hitters need to adjust to."
This past season, Jakscht put up impressive individual statistics with 1,188 assists, 172 kills, 210 digs, 116 blocks, 37 aces and a .492 attack percentage. She also earned MaxPreps Medium Schools All-America second team honors back in December.
"We look to her to come in and make an immediate impact on our program with her volleyball IQ and big game experience," Gromala said. "Her ability to run a quick tempo offense and attack the second touch will be huge assets in our conference."
Jakscht is part of a four-member recruiting class that will join Kent State in the fall. The Golden Flashes finished the 2013 season with a 12-18 mark that included the first win over a nationally-ranked team in program history.
