Gymnastics Makes it Five Straight with 195.700-193.950 Win Over Ball State Friday

MUNCIE, Ind. – No. 25 Kent State gymnastics beat Ball State 195.700-193.950 in an Mid-American Conference meet at Irving Gym on Friday, February 21.
Kent State (8-1, 5-0 MAC) took first in all four events, as they made it 24 straight meetings against the Cardinals (3-8, 0-5 MAC) while the Golden Flashes set season-highs with a total score of 195.700, on the vault, 49.100, and on the floor, 49.175.
On the first rotation, Kent State scored a 48.600 on the uneven bars and saw Marie Case tie for first with a 9.800. Rebecca Osmer took third (9.750) and Jaymi Baxter tied for fourth, 9.725.
The second rotation on the vault had the Flashes set a season high, 49.100, Kent State took first, second, third and tied for fourth. Chelsea Drooger took first, as she tied her career-high and set her season high with a 9.875, with Case in second (9.850), Mims in third (9.825) and Kelsey Lawless in fourth (9.800).
The third rotation for the Flashes saw the same success as the second, as Kent State set a new season high on the floor exercise with a 49.175. Case took first in the meet with 9.900; Samantha Gordon tied for third, with a new career-high, 9.850 and Jordan Hardison tied Gordon for third (9.850). Amiah Mims finished in fifth with a score of 9.825.
In the final rotation, the Golden Flashes were on the balance beam (48.825), which had Case take first with a 9.850 as Kayla Kosmerl and Nicolle Eastman both go for fourth with a 9.775. Kosmerl set a new career-high on he balance beam with her 9.775.
Case completed the All-Around as the only competitor and had a score of 39.400 -- Bars (9.800), Vault (9.850), Floor (9.900) and Beam (9.850).
No. 25 Kent State Gymnastics heads to Ann Arbor, Mich. next to compete with Michigan and Brigham Young at 7 p.m. on Friday, February 28.
